Having a great collection of books at home doesn’t really mean that you are a person who loves reading. It may be got from your father and your father’s father or it can just impres people around you with the fact that you are a person of culture.
From my point of view, reading is very important in our lives. For example, reading is a means of gaining knowledge in different areas. It can help us have a great imagination and it makes things easier when it comes to making compositions on different themes. It gives you the possibility to speak about science, even if you don’t work in this field; you can express your opinion about a political event at least, because you have read something about that.
Secondly, reading gives us the possibility to enter the world of imagination. We can dream in the world of the rich or imagine what life will be like in the future.
Sometimes, we compare ourselves with the people in the stories we read and they can give us some clues to solve our problems and tell us what to do in certain situations. Books are based on real life. Even if writers are considered to be somehow different from common people, they often face the same problems as we all do and suffer like us, too.
In short, I would like to say that literature(文学) is the perfect means of enriching our culture, expressing correctly and having a rich vocabulary, being able to understand different fields and really being considered to be a learned person. 59. In the writer’s opinion, some people have many books at home only to . A. make their house look more beautiful B. show that their father is a person of culture
C. impress others with the fact that they love reading very much D. show that they are rich enough to have such a big collection of books 60. Which of the following is NOT mentioned in the passage? A. Reading a lot is good for writing. B. Reading can help us gain knowledge. C. Reading can help us have a great imagination. D. Reading helps us enter the field of politics easily. 61. We can learn from the fourth paragraph that .
A. people in stories are always unbelievable B. stories may show us what to do in life C. writers are good at dealing with problems in life D. writers often have different expriences in life 62. What is the best title for this passage? A. Why is reading important in our lives? B. How can we become a learned person? C. Different reading, different functions D. Having a good collection of books means a lot
C
First aid means the aid or the help that can be given to an injured person first, that is, before any other help arrives. Nowadays there is usually a telephone not far away and first we should, if a serious accident happens, send someone to telephone for an ambulance. Sometimes quick action by us may save someone’s life.
Shock. People often suffer from shock after receiving an injury, sometimes even when the injure is a small one. The face turns grey, and the skin becomes damp and cold. They breathe quickly. They should be kept warm. Cover them with a blanket and give them a warm drink.
Broken bones. Do not move the patient. Send for an ambulance at once. Threat for shock if necessary.
Bleeding. A little bleeding doesn’t harm. It washes dirt from the wound. But if the bleeding continues, try to stop it by placing a clean cloth firmly over the wound until the bleeding stops or help arrives.
Poison. A person who has taken poison should be taken to a hospital at once. With some poisons, for example, sleeping pills, it is a good thing to make the patient throw up by pressing your fingers down his throat.
Remember: When an accident happens, send someone to telephone for an ambulance at once. Keep the injured person warm and quiet. Give him plenty of air. Do not let other people crowd around him. 63. How many common accidents are mentioned in this passage?
A. Two. B. Three. C. Four. D. Five. . If someone goes into shock after receiving an injure, you’ll find that . A. the face turns grey B. the skin becomes damp and cold C. the patient breathes quickly D. all of the above
