My Weekend

This past weekend was one of the best ever! It started on Friday after school. My best friend Sam came over and we played basketball in my driveway for a couple hours. Sam and I have been friends since kindergarten and we love shooting hoops together. We're both on the school basketball team too. After we got tired of playing basketball, we went inside to have a snack. My mom had made chocolate chip cookies, which are my favorite. We each had a few cookies and some milk. Then Sam's mom called and said it was time for him to go home for dinner.

On Saturday morning, I slept in until around 10am. It felt so good to not have to get up early for school! When I finally got up, I had pancakes with syrup and strawberries for breakfast. My little sister Emily is only 3 years old, but she always wants to have what I'm having. She got pancakes too and made a huge mess as always.

After breakfast, my dad said we were going to go fishing at the lake. I was really excited because I love fishing! We loaded up the car with our fishing rods, tackle box, snacks, and drinks.

When we got to the lake, we found a nice shady spot and set up our gear. Emily couldn't really fish, but she had fun throwing rocks into the water.

At first, we weren't catching anything. But after a while, I felt a huge tug on my line. I started reeling it in and it felt like I had a huge fish! My dad had to help me and we finally pulled it out of the water. It was a 3 pound large mouth bass! We took a picture of me holding it before we let it go back into the lake. I caught two more smaller fish after that and my dad caught four. Emily kept saying \"fishy fishy\" and clapping her hands when we would catch one.

When we got home after fishing, my mom had made a delicious lunch of sandwiches, chips, and lemonade. I was starving after being out on the lake all morning. After lunch, I spent a couple hours playing my favorite video game, Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I've been trying to beat it for months but it's such a long game.

That evening, my cousins Hannah and Jacob came over. Hannah is 9 and Jacob is 7, so we had fun playing hide and seek and tag in the backyard. Once it started getting dark, we went inside and watched a movie together. We watched the new Pixar

movie Elemental about two characters made of fire and water who become friends. I thought it was really good!

On Sunday morning, we went to church as a family like we do every week. The sermon was about being kind to others. In Sunday school, we made crafts with popsicle sticks. I made a picture frame to give to my mom for Mother's Day coming up soon.

After church, my family went out for brunch at our favorite breakfast place downtown. I got bacon, eggs, hash browns, and chocolate chip pancakes. My mom always tells me I have enough energy without all that sugar from the chocolate chips! We ran some errands around town after brunch, like going to the grocery store and the car wash.

When we got home in the afternoon, I spent a couple hours outside riding my bike around the neighborhood with Sam. We saw a rabbit in someone's yard and tried to follow it but it ran into the woods before we could see where its hole was. I have to start my homework in the evening, but we still had time for a couple rounds of NBA 2K23 on the Xbox before Sam's mom came to pick him up.

For dinner, we had my dad's famous homemade pizza. He makes the dough from scratch and lets it rise for hours before

adding all the toppings like pepperoni, sausage, peppers, and extra cheese. We had a veggie pizza for my mom who doesn't eat meat. The pizza was incredible as always.

After dinner, I finished up my math homework for the week so I wouldn't have any left to do on Monday morning before school. I find math pretty easy overall but some of the algebra stuff we're doing now is starting to get harder. I also had to study for a social studies test on the 13 colonies on Monday. Even though it was Sunday night, I allowed myself to play on my Nintendo Switch for an hour before bedtime as a reward for getting all my homework done.

That was basically my weekend! It went by so fast but I had a lot of fun. Weekends are my favorite because I get to sleep in, spend time with family and friends, and not have any school work to worry about for a couple days. I can't wait for my next weekend off!
