摘要：A method for recognizing a digitized character. The shape of the character isrepresented by the number, positions and shapes of alternating contour convexities, asviewed from two sides of the character. The number and positions of the convexitiesdefine the sort group of the character, there being nine sort groups in the systemsdescribed. Each sort group has associated with it a separate linear discriminant logic testfor every pair of characters which share the sort group. Depending on the sort group ofthe character to be recognized, the associated pairwise discriminant tests are performed,and the character class which passes a specified number of the tests is identified as theclass of the character to be recognized.
