摘要：The apparatus comprises at least one ground-engaging drum (10) including ahollow cylinder (12) mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis, a plurality of apertures(17) distributed around the circumference of the cylinder (12), and a layer (18) of opencell resilient material covering the outer surface of the cylinder (12). Valves (26) in thedrum are arranged to close the aperture (17) except under the inward pressure of waterpassing thorough the resilient layer (18) when the latter is compressed, and a plurality oftroughs (30) are provided on the inner surface of the cylinder (12) for carrying waterwhich enters the apertures (17) in the area of ground contact upwardly away from theground by rotation of the cylinder (12). A non-rating water tank (35) mounted within thecylinder (12) collects the water discharged from the troughs (30) when each reaches acertain height. In a futher embodiment the layer (18) includes funnel-shaped apertures(50) which communicate directly with respective apertures (17) in the cylinder (12), andthe outer surface of the layer (18) is covered with a non-porous rubber sheet (60) exceptat the entrance (62) to the apertures (50) in the layer (18). In this case the resilient layer(18) may not be open cell structure.
